Our approach
A wall with more than one way in.
Sixth Wall Society aims to provide an inclusive reading experience for as many people as possible. We are building the site with clear structure, keyboard access, visible focus states, descriptive text for meaningful images and layouts that adapt when text or the screen is enlarged.
The accessibility button in the bottom-left corner includes quick profiles for ADHD and focus, reading support, low vision and seizure safety. Individual controls cover text size and spacing, readable type, a paragraph reading guide, contrast and saturation, prominent links and keyboard focus, reduced movement, quieter reading pages and the option to hide decorative photography. Your choices are stored only on your own device and can be reset at any time.
The accessibility eye
Choose a profile or build your own.
ADHD / Focus reduces movement and surrounding visual distraction, strengthens keyboard focus and activates a reading guide that keeps the current paragraph prominent. Reading Support switches story text to a clear sans-serif, enlarges it and adds more comfortable line and letter spacing.
Low Vision combines larger text, high contrast, clearer links, increased spacing and more prominent keyboard focus. Seizure Safe stops animation, parallax and transitions while reducing the intensity of colour. The site also respects a device’s own reduced-motion preference.
Every part of a profile can be adjusted independently. Readers can change text size, line height and letter spacing; use a readable font; highlight links or keyboard focus; choose high contrast, dark contrast, monochrome or low saturation; reduce movement; quiet a story page with Focus mode; follow the paragraph reading guide; or hide decorative photography entirely. These preferences stay on the reader’s own device and can be reset at any time.
Known limits
This is an ongoing piece of work.
Sixth Wall Society is an independent website and has not yet undergone a formal third-party accessibility audit. Some of the exhibition’s expressive typography, photography and unusual layouts may create difficulties we have not anticipated. The story text itself remains available as ordinary page text so it can be enlarged, navigated and read by assistive technology.
